So Far…

What have I found so far?

My grandfather arrived at the entry port of Ellis Island on  August 31, 1903 from Siculiana Sicily i at the age of 21, so the records show, but he was born on November 2, 1882, which would have made him 20.

He lived in Montreal, Canada for a while, before heading down to St. Louis, Missouri. His younger brother, Pasquale, joined him in Montreal on February 25, 1904, at the age of 17. He also arrived at the entry port of Ellis Island. Upon arrival he went to live with my grandfather, before heading down to St. Louis, Missouri.

I’m still searching for birth certificates for my uncles Carmen and Joe. My sister said she has those documents, but can’t remember where she stored them. I’m also searching for the records of their arrival to the United States in the 1940’s, around the time that Mussolini began recruiting for the Russian front during WWII.

Although I have found genealogy research frustrating at times, it is also a lot of fun and most interesting.

About annamaria

Although born in the United States, Annamaria Bazzi spent a great deal of her childhood in Sicily, Italy, in a town called Sciacca. Italian was the language spoken at home. Therefore, she had no problems when she found herself growing up in a strange country. Upon returning to the states, she promised herself she would speak without an accent. She attended Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Computers with a minor in Spanish. Annamaria spent twenty years programming systems for large corporations, creating innovative solution, and addressing customer problems. During those years, she raised four daughters and one husband. Annamaria lives in Richmond Virginia with her small family where she now dedicates a good part of her day writing.
